Generic Job Description for a Stunt Performer
Stunt Performers perform stunts in films and on television. They stand in for actors and actresses who are not trained to perform dangerous work. They stunts that they perform can include falling from great heights, jumping out of moving vehicles or being set on fire. These stunts are always carefully planned to minimise the risk taken by the Stunt Performer.
The job can be exciting, dangerous and very physically demanding. Stunt Performers are usually trained in a range of physical disciplines such as gymnastics and boxing.

Pay:
- Entry £14,000
- £15,000 - £25,000 with experience
- £50,000 or more for highly skilled and established Stunt Performers

Hours:
- Hours can vary depending on the production
- Long hours including early starts are common
- Evening and weekend work may be required to fit in with a shooting schedule
Environment:
- The environment depends on the production and scenes requiring stunts
- Can be inside a studio or outside in all condition
- Travel is expected to and from shooting locations
Qualifications:
- No set academic entry requirements
- Experience in a range of physical disciplines is essential
- Experience of working in front of a camera is essential
Training:
- On-the-job training is required for stunt techniques
- Professional development training is available through the Joint Industry Stunt Committee (JISC)
- All qualifications and skills must be kept up to date
Opportunities:
- There are no more than 250 Stunt Performers in the UK
- Work is typically irregular with periods of unemployment
- Some Stunt Performers have other jobs to supplement income
