This VIP is a full time fire fighter with Surrey Fire & Rescue. The role of the Surrey Fire & Rescue service is to protect the people of Surrey.
Generic Job Description for a Fire fighter
Fire Fighters rescue people and property from all types of accident and disaster. They also provide advice and education on fire prevention and promote fire safety.
Fire Fighters can expect to respond to emergency calls which could involve rescuing people, animals or property from a disaster such as a flood, road, rail or air crash, or releasing someone trapped in a dangerous or confined space, as well as putting out fires in residential and commercial property.

Pay:
- Trainee Fire fighter approx £19,000
- £25,000 on achieving full competence
- Salaries are higher in the London area

Hours:
- Approx 40 hours per week on a shift rota
- Typical rota includes day and night shifts with an average of 2 days off per week
Environment:
- Time in between call outs is spent at the Fire Station
- Much of the work can take place in dangerous and unpleasant conditions
Qualifications:
- No set entry requirements
- Personal qualities and physical attributes are more important than qualifications
- All candidates must pass an entrance test covering a medical, physical fitness and job-related tests
Training:
- Training is intensive
- Initial training is 80 days at a training school
- A second phase of on-the-job training then takes 18 months to complete
