Receptionists are the face of a business or organisation. It is their responsibility to deal with members of the public who visit or contact the organisation.
Receptionists are employed by a variety of organisations including offices, schools, hospitals, factories, hotels and solicitors. Their duties include; greeting visitors, signing visitors in and taking their details for security purposes, directing visitors, answering the phone, operating a switchboard, sorting mail, taking message for staff, organising appointments, taking bookings and general clerical work.

Pay:
- Entry £9,000
- £13,000 with experience
- £20,000 or more for an experienced Receptionist in a large organisation

Hours:
- Typically 9-5 Monday – Friday
- Weekend work is necessary in some organisations
Environment:

Qualifications:
- No formal entry requirements
- GCSE passes grade A-C in Maths and English are useful
- Literacy and numeracy skills are essential
Training:
- Training is mainly on-the-job, usually under the supervision of an experienced Receptionist
- NVQ’s in Reception and other business related subjects are available
