General Job Description for a Military Clerk
Military Clerks are responsible for providing personnel administration as well as administrative support to all levels of the Army. Military Clerks are members of a small team who carry out a wide range of tasks using modern information technology.

Gender: Male/Female
Minimum Starting Age: 16 Years
Maximum Starting Age: 30 Years
Minimum Service: 4 Years
Skills:
- An inquiring mind
- An eye for detail
- Good communication skills
- The ability to stay calm in a crisis
- A good standard of physical fitness
- Honesty

Environment:
- Military clerks are employed in almost every unit and establishment in the Army around the world
- Primarily office based
- Participation in sport, recreational and outdoor pursuits is actively encouraged
Qualifications:
- GCSE passes grade G or above in English and Maths
Training:
- Initial Soldier training
- Nine-week specialist training course
Opportunities:
- It is possible to volunteer to serve with the Special Air Service, Army Commando Units and Airborne Forces, and undertake Commando or Parachute Training
- Some Military Clerks are employed in finance and accountancy and undertake specialist training
- Opportunities exist for further professional development training
